Jill Scott Dishes on Her Two New Albums

We’ve seemed to have gotten used to the newly rejuvenated Jill Scott on the movie screen sector. Now, Scott is trading in our popcorn and soda; and serving us with two albums that she is working on all at once.

In attendance at the 2013 Essence Festival in New Orleans, Louisianna, Scott shared details about upcoming music albums and the uncontrollable urge to keep expanding and growing. She admits that she may have a little ADD when it comes to music, which isn’t a bad thing for the soulful singer.

“I’m expanding, I’m growing and I can’t seem to…unfortunately, I can’t seem to focus on one thing at a time. So, when the spirit hits me I go to the studio.”

The first album up for order is entitled, “Lullaby” and is intended for a very special purpose and niche audience. The album is aimed to make you sleep and is not just for adults, but for infants as well. Although, it doesn’t seem like Scott got much sleep recording this album being that it was completed within only four days. The speedy completion of this record was probably due to the chemistry and charisma between her and the greats who helped her create the album such as Andre Harris, Derrick Hodge, Lil John Roberts and Robert Glasper.

“The record is attended to de-program you,” Scott explains about the album. “It is a lot of true-from-the-heart lyrics and I could not write them until I was pregnant and understood that new level of love. The lyrics are meant to be encouraging and nurturing.”

Scott may have something special for moms at home, but don’t worry she also has something for when the kids are away too. The second album is quite different, so different that Scott will not reveal the name of the album and remains tight-lipped on most of its details. She did acknowledge that the record will be different to the ear as she does not want to remain in the same place musically and must keep moving. The Philly native also disclosed that producer 9th Wonder is part of the project.
