If you had to name one of R&B’s female contemporary songstress of the last decade with an impressive resume, Letoya Luckett should be in the Top 5. The Houston native started her career as one of the four members of the ’90s girl group Destiny’s Child.

After leaving the group in the early 2000s, she pressed forward in the music industry and embarked on her own solo career, releasing two albums.

As she continues to work on her long-awaited third studio album and does her Hollywood thang’, we remind fans why they should love Ms. Letoya Luckett.

Work of Art

With or without makeup, it’s no secret LeToya is a stunning beauty. From her life-size Barbie physique to her incredible facial bone structure and her always on-point hairstyles, she can make any man weak to his knees. You better werk!

Successful Solo Music Career

Although LeToya didn’t stick around long enough in Destiny’s Child to reach the group’s worldwide success, she was still able to branch out and launch her own successful solo career.

Her self-titled debut at No.1 on Billboard 200, spawning hits like “Torn” and “She Don’t.” Meanwhile, the follow-up “Lady Love” earned a No.1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. There is no doubt the “Not Anymore” songstress has earned her mark as a respectively successful solo artist.

She’s Accessible

With the new age of social media, LeToya utilizes her Twitter page to keep fans informed about her many endeavors and constantly responds to her fans — she even gives proactive advice!

She’s a Hustler

Aside from her music career, LeToya isn’t afraid to tackle other avenues to showcase her talents and earn extra dough.

She has been the face of the hair care line “Smooth Touch” since 2010. She made her acting debut in 2010 in the film Preacher’s Kid, and later had a supporting role in the romantic comedy Killers alongside Ashton Kutcher.

Since then she had landed roles on BET’s Second Generation Wayans and GMC TV’s series For Richer or Poorer. This year she was named the newest host of Centric’s Culture List, which premiered in July and we can expect to see her in season 3 of Vh1’s Singles Ladies later this year.

In our best Donna Summer voice “She works HARD for the money” and we ain’t mad boo.

She’s the Original Destiny’s Child

Say what you wish and say what you like but in the end, it will be alright. LeToya Luckett will and forever be one of the original members of Destiny’s Child.

Despite all the conflicts and turmoil that happen within the departure of LeToya, she earned her writing credits on the multi-platinum LP “The Writing’s on the Wall” on tracks like “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Say My Name.” She also snagged two Grammy Awards.

The biggest accomplishment of it all is even while she wasn’t a main attraction in the group, she was still able to pick up the pieces afterward and embark on her career. Kudos to you!
