Robin Thicke Tapped For Oprah’s “Next Chapter”

After the controversial frenzy over his “Blurred Lines” hit and his jaw-dropping MTV Video Music Awards performance with Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke is set to be the next artist to appear and be interviewed by Oprah Winfrey on her “Oprah’s Next Chapter” television show.

The singer will discuss the two issues of his summer hit and the VMA performance, as well as talking about ehis family and life with wife Paula Patton, fatherhood and collaborating with innovative artists like Pharrell and will.i.am.

Be on the lookout for Robin Thicke’s interview, which will air October 13 at 9 p.m. on the OWN Network.

From 2008: R&B Albums That Turn 10 This Year

Another ten years has caught up with us in the realm of R&B music.

Let’s jog your memory for a minute. For starters, 2008 saw Mariah Carey touch the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the 18th time with “Touch My Body.” Usher showed his strength by “Moving Mountains,” while Beyoncé led ladies to the club, singing, “If you liked it, then you should have put a ring on it.”

We heard the debut projects from Day26, Jennifer Hudson, Tiffany Evans and Jazmine Sullivan. Also, 2008 ended listeners music drought from veterans Deborah Cox, Ashanti, Keith Sweat and Brandy.

Rated R&B has compiled a list of 31 R&B/soul albums that celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2018.

Randomness: On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama won presidency, becoming the first African-American to be elected as President of the United States.

Calvin Richardson Releases New Single ‘Treat Her Right’

Calvin Richardson makes a return with his brand new single “Treat Her Right.” On the track, the R&B crooner gives fellas some insight on how to keep a woman.

“‘Treat Her Right’ is the secret ingredient to any relationship! It is what every woman wants and needs from their mate,” Richardson said in a press release.

“Treat Her Right” is the first single from Richardson’s upcoming album, All or Nothing, which drops on September 29 via Shanachie Entertainment.

Richardson explains, “This album touches on everything — soul, R&B and pop. It has something for everyone – love, laughter, sex, dance and romance. Best one yet!”

Bryson Tiller Enlists SZA for European Leg of ‘Set it Off Tour’

Two of R&B’s hottest acts have just joined forces. That’s right: Bryson Tiller has enlisted SZA for the European leg of  his Set It Off Tour. The dates are set for this fall beginning October 17 in Marseilles, France and ending in Dublin, Ireland on Nov. 30.

This announcement couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time for both artists. Tiller, whose sophomore album True to Self debuted at No. 1 last month, just finished the U.S. run of the tour with special guests H.E.R. and Metro Boomin. SZA has also been keeping busy with the release of her No. 3 peaking debut album Ctrl and the announcement of her own headlining tour last week.

SZA is only one of special guests that will be featured on Tiller’s tour, with the others TBA. Tickets go on sale this Friday, July 14.
