Beyoncé has turned the tables for her new era of music. Instead of doing the typical promotional tactics to release an album, she’s making up her own rules. After dropping her self-titled visual album without notice, the singer will now release singles from the album — typically singles are released before the album drops.
According to Billboard, the 32-year-old singer will release two singles to radio next week — “Blow” for Top 40 radio and the Jay-Z assisted “Drunk In Love” to urban radio.
“XO,” penned by Ryan Tedder and The-Dream, will reportedly serve as the second single for Top 40 radio in 2014.
Despite having official singles ready, radio stations have already been playing the album in its entirety.
“Beyoncé is bigger than a single. Beyoncé has created a movement,” says Reggie Rouse, VP of urban programming at CBS Radio and program director at V-103 and WAOK in Atlanta.
“We’re featuring every track this weekend on V103. We put up all 17 video clips on our website. Were doing a blog on Beyoncé. She just kills it. She is the standard. Beyoncé made every radio station, blog, TV station react to what she did. Jay by himself is great, Beyoncé by herself is great. Together? There’s nothing like it.”
“Beyoncé” is eyeing the number one spot. The album is on track to sell 200,000 copies within three days, according to Hits Daily Double. The album is available now exclusively on iTunes. Physical copies of the album will go on sale starting Saturday, Dec. 21.
