R. Kelly plans make next year’s holiday season a time filled with gifts, joyous occasions…and love-making.
We heard a bit of Christmas Kellz on his “Christmas I’ll Be Steppin'” song on the “The Best Man Holiday” soundtrack, but in a recent interview with RapUpTV, the R&B veteran said he plans to make his first holiday album next year.
“I’m working on a Christmas album right now called the ’12 Nights of Christmas’ and it’s gonna be a lot of lovemaking,” R. Kelly said. “I come with that bearing gifts.”
Although the Chicago native has been recording songs for the album since last year, he plans to take his time in releasing “12 Nights of Christmas.”
“I started it last Christmas actually, but I don’t believe in just putting out a Christmas album just to sell records,” he told RapUpTV. “It has to be the next [‘ThisChristmas’]. In order to get that and capture that moment, you have to take a couple of Christmases and then you come with it.”
In addition to him working on the holiday album, R. Kelly also says that he has already written seven or eight albums worth of follow-up material for his recently released “Black Panties” album.
“My next album is halfway written already,” he said. “It’s gonna be another “12 Play” album. It’s gonna be that type of album because there’s been a love-making album drought…and I’ve come to save the day.”
