Did you catch our feature story “Learn from Beyoncé: 5 Ways to Promote an R&B Album Successfully?” Well if you did, you’ll see that we called it here first. Beyoncé spearheaded a new trend in the new digital era of music that even legends like Brian McKnight aspire to follow.
Needing to reinvent himself in this new decade of R&B music, maybe Brian McKnight caught a glimpse of our feature article and took heed to the five steps we suggested to make a successful R&B album. The 44-year-old veteran announced that he will be releasing an “interactive” album entitled “Brain McKnight Interactive.”
“It was really exciting what Beyoncé did because in one day she sort of changed the landscape of the music business,” says the smooth R&B crooner giving accolades to Queen Bey. “I think that showed people you don’t necessarily have to have this huge marketing machine behind you to be successful in the business.”
Putting his own spin on Beyoncé’s album release method, McKnight will launch his ‘interactive” album via his website Mcknight360.com. Fans will be able to download a new song and video every month for the price of just $1 per month, $12 for the year. Also included are weekly videos of the behind-the-scenes recording process from the interactive album.
“It’s like a club,” explains the multi-talented singer. “My fans will also be able to comment on that process as it’s unfolding. I’ll take on comments from the fans [and] it’ll be as interactive for me as it is to them.”
Will “Brian McKnight Interactive” give him another charted album and exceed his low performance predecessor “More Than Words” last year? If the album follows its trend leader “Beyoncé,” it is sure to do just fine. Tell us which of the “5 Ways to Promote an R&B Album Successfully” did McKnight follow?
