Singer-songwriter Kandi addresses her mother’s disapproving eye in her latest song, “Let Them Love.”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star musically confronts her mother, affectionately known as Mama Joyce, in the track. Mama Joyce, who is now single, is known for always publicly disapproving of the Grammy award-winner’s relationships. She most recently has disapproved of Kandi’s engagement to Todd Tucker and has cited him as being an opportunist, gold digger and cheater.
Kandi sings, “You’re sitting here lonely/you’re sitting here by yourself/So stop giving advice on relationships to everybody else/Let a person love who they love.”
The emotional ballad is lifted from the soundtrack of Kandi’s stage play “A Mother’s Love,” which is based on Kandi’s real-life experiences, balancing her relationship with her overbearing mother and fiancé Todd.
