As January comes to a close, we are ending the Throwback Thursday theme of the month (R&B groups of the 90’s/00’s) with quartet BlackStreet.
Their 1996 hit song “No Diggity” featured Dr. Dre and Queen Pen and was the group’s most successful single. The song earned the top spot on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles, Hot 100, Hot Dance Music and Top 40 charts. It also did well in the UK and New Zealand. The instantly recognizable, up-tempo track has been sampled many times and is considered one of the greatest and most memorable songs of the 90’s.
“No Diggity” earned a 1998 Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and was also nominated for Best R&B Album. The video was nominated for Best Rap Video and Best R&B Video at MTV’s Video Music Awards in 1997.
