Mainstream pop/soul artist Bruno Mars gave the Super Bowl a “Treasure” Sunday night (Feb. 2) at the Pepsi half-time show. He put on a performance that would heighten his career and increase his album sales.

Mars’ sophomore album, “Unorthodox Jukebox” released in 2012, moved up 11 spots on the Billboard 200 chart from No. 18 to No. 7 experiencing a 180 percent increase. The Honolulu native’s debut album, “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” released four years ago, jumps up an impressive 63 spots from No. 82 to No. 19. That’s 16,000 copies sold and a 303 percent increase. The ability for a four-year old record to still have that type of breathing life is striking.

Both of these albums soared in sales within the time span of less than 24 hours of the Super Bowl. What makes Mars different from many of the previous Super Bowl halftime performers, is that most of them have a pretty extensive list of albums. Mars with only two albums on record, was able to use this momentum early in his career to fuel the only two albums he had on file.

The 28-year old may experience more rising sales in the next week ahead.
