The Bronx bred artist Tiffany Evans has been as busy as a bee getting her follow-up project to her “143” EP recorded and ready for fans. To start her promotional rounds for the forthcoming release, she breaks free from musical solitude to chat with VIBE Vixen about her dream collaborations, motherhood, parting ways with Matthews Knowles and of course, her new music. She shared some kind words for Chris Brown, who is dealing with legal woes.
Read interview excerpts below.
On motherhood changing her style of music:
I tend to watch the messages I send out in my music because I just want to make sure that it’s healing people, lifting people up. Making people happy. I just want to make sure that it’s nothing that tears another person down because I have a child and I want whatever she listens to building her up as well.
On cutting ties with Matthews Knowles as management:
It was just time to move forward. Sometimes situations are placed in your life for you to learn certain things. I took whatever I learned from [Mathew] and put it into my own label.
On the direction of her new project:
I will say that the new music is very groovy. I love when I hear music and it makes my body move. That’s exactly what I want for my music this time. I know the fans are gonna really be proud of what we come up with.
On dream collaborations:
All of my dream collaborations are with men. Usher. I love Usher. I think he’s a vocal beast. Justin Timberlake. I would love to work with Timbaland, I think he’s amazing. And Chris Brown
Advice to Chris Brown:
The key is to have peace in the midst of chaos. Pray. Ask God what it is that you need to learn from this situation rather than react. I think this is that time for him. I’ll be praying for him too.
