Just in time for Mother’s Day, K. Michelle premieres the music video for her heartwarming lullaby, “A Mother’s Prayer.”
ALBUM REVIEW: K. Michelle – ‘Rebellious Soul’
Released exclusively via ESSENCE.com, the Amil Barnes directed clip takes fans through the life of a single mother who works at a diner to support her son. Throughout the video, it shows the mother helping her son with homework to teaching him how to ride a bicycle. It then jumps to nine-years later where the son is off to college. After seeing him off, she goes back in the house to see a note he’s written for his mother who sacrificed everything for him.
Michelle wrote “A Mother’s Prayer” about her son, Chase. She told ESSENCE how much her son means to her. “My son Chase is the center of my universe,” she said. “My fans and media don’t often see him in the spotlight with me and that is because I work really hard to keep his childhood as normal and carefree as possible. I think the most difficult part of my job is not being there each night to tuck my son in, but the sacrifices I make while working are all with his better interest in mind. Being a mother is the most challenging and rewarding part of my life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
