After Zendaya Coleman announced that she will no longer portray Aaliyah in the Lifetime biopic, people were left wondering who would replace her. On Friday, it was revealed that Alexandra Shipp will now play the late singer.
Shipp, who is 23-years-old, is best known for her role on the Nickelodeon show “House of Anubis.”

In other news, Wendy Williams announced that she will now serve as executive producer for the film along with Debra Chase. Production is set to start later this month. “I’m excited to exec produce the Aaliyah @lifetimetv movie w/ @DebraMChase. Prod starts later this month and @AlexShipppp will play Aaliyah,” tweeted Williams.
