CHART CHECK: Pharrell’s ‘G I R L’ Eyes Gold Status, Marsha Ambrosius’ New Album Debuts At No. 2

Sam Smith’s debut album “In the Lonely Hour” remains in the top ten this week. The British singer sold 35,000 copies, holding the No. 6 spot. Smith has sold 355,000 copies to date.

Trey Songz moves down 5 slots this week to No. 9 with “Trigga.” Songz has sold 163,000 copies to date.

Marsha Ambrosius’ sophomore album “Friends and Lovers” debuts at No. 12, selling 17,200 copies. The sales figures for this album are extremely low compared to her debut album “Late Nights & Early Mornings,” which debuted at No. 2 with over 96,000 copies sold during its first week of sales.

Michael Jackson’s posthumous album “Xscape” reigns in at No. 33 (last week: No. 18) this week with 9,590 copies sold this week.

John Legend’s gold-selling album “Love in the Future” slips six spots this week at No. 37 with 8,192 copies sold this week.

Pharrell Williams’ new album “G I R L” is headed toward gold status. The Virginia Beach native sold 6,576 copies of the album this week (475,929 copies sold to date).

Sam Smith’s hit single “Stay with Me” moves up two spots to No. 3. Meanwhile, Ariana Grande’s care free single “Problem”slips one slot to No. 4. Her latest single “Break Free” stumbles down two spots to No. 21 (last week: No. 19).

Pharrell Williams’ fun track “Happy” remains idle at No. 12 for a second week.

John Legend’s heartfelt single “All of Me” moves up one slot to No. 6. On the other hand, his new single “You & I (Nobody in the World)” makes its way off the chart at No. 95. Last week, the song was No. 66.

Tinashe’s party anthem “2 On” dances its way up the chart from No. 27 to No. 25. Meanwhile, Chris Brown’s song “Loyal” drops four spots from No. 22 to No. 26.

“Na Na” by Trey Songz dips nine spots to No. 34 (last week: No. 25). Meanwhile, after three weeks on the chart, his other song “Foreign” makes its way to the exit at No. 98 (last week: No. 92).
