Mali Music has achieved incredible success this year. His song “Beautiful” topped the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart and reached the top ten of the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart. Last month, his album “Mali Is…” debuted in the top 20 of the Billboard 200.
Mali chats with EBONY magazine as he plots the next move for his new project. In the candid interview, the soul singer expresses the message he wanted to convey with his “Mali Is…” album. “The overall sound of the ‘Mali Is…’ album is ‘versatile soul,'” he says. “The lyrical content is what I’d like to call “necessary”! [laughs] Just a ton of truth and powerful lyrics with fun and vibrant melodies. It’s a great-feeling album.
Although Mali’s career has been met with tremendous victories this year, he isn’t going to let anything deter him from reaching more goals — even love. “As far as relationships go, right now, I’m focusing on what is happening for me in my career and in my music,” he says. “You know success brings good and bad things with it, so I’m just remaining focused and trusting my gut.”
