At the top of the year, singer-songwriter-producer The-Dream left his long-time label home Def Jam Recordings. Since then, he has worked on a few projects including the “Think Like A Man Too” soundtrack, released the powerful song “Black” and reunited with his musical soul-mate, Tricky Stewart.
His reunion with Stewart has prompted the two to launch a joint label called Contra Paris. The-Dream made it clear that he has “no wishes to build a Record Label, or pursue the old idea of what a record label is.” He calls his collaboration with Stewart a venture “all about Culture and everything that surrounds Music.”
The first project to be distributed from the label is “Royal: The Prequel” by The-Dream. The EP consists of eight tracks and is available for download via the Contra Paris-website.
