Aloe Blacc’s latest single “Hello World (The World Is Ours)” has received a lot of attention, not only because the song is amazing, but because the single was used for Coke’s World Cup Anthem. The soul/R&B crooner releases an empowering video that teaches us about being judgmental.
The video shows a group of young urban men wearing black hoodies as they hang in their community. Unfortunately, they are judged by the way they dress. In one scene, the men approach a young lady who is pushing a stroller. As one of them men pulls an object from his pocket, the lady becomes fearful and attempts to pull something from her purse as well. Just as the guy is approaching the stroller, he bends over to tighten the wheels on the stroller with the screw driver that he was pulling from his pocket. Meanwhile, Blacc belts the words to the song while standing alone in an abandoned church.
The video is very powerful and shows the reality of the urban youth being misjudged. The song inspires people to not judge a book by its cover.
