As the release date for Jhene Aiko’s “Souled Out” album draws near, the singer drops an interesting visual for her second single “The Pressure.”
Aiko is known for always giving us something different and stepping outside of the cardboard box. She does just that as she brings her Fisticuffs-produced track to life. The Los Angeles singer rocks a head full of blonde dreads and goes through different stages throughout the video full of interpretable meanings. Throughout the brilliant video, the camera acts as an axis rotating past different phases in Aiko’s life and relationship as she deals with the pressure of being an artist, girlfriend and mother.
As the video moves along, Aiko is shown sitting under seven moons, maybe indicating several different moods or phases, as she sits in Indian style wearing what looks like fortune-teller attire. Shortly after, the singer walks past herself in several different scenes appearing as a guardian angel watching the course of her life play out. At the end of the over four-minute video, Aiko is by herself and now only has one moon above her head, instead of seven, possibly symbolizing less pressure to now bear.
Watch the deep thought-provoking video here and share your interpretation of the video. Make sure to get a copy of Aiko’s upcoming studio album “Souled Out” Sept. 9 featuring singles “To Love & Die” and “The Pressure.”
