Alicia Keys can now add ‘author’ to her growing resume. The pregnant singer has announced her plans to release her very first children’s book.
Written and illustrated by Keys, Blue Moon: From the Journals of Mama Mae & LeeLee, is a tale birthed from Keys’ interactive storytelling app, “The Journals of Mama Mae and LeeLee,” which highlights her childhood memories with her own grandmother.
According to a book preview, the story follows the life of LeeLee, who just moved to the big city and her magical grandmother, Mama Mae. With her granddaughter not used to the new scenery, Mama Mae tells her the story of Abey, a young Native American girl from the 17th century, and her adventurous yet magical evening when she too wasn’t sure of her surroundings.
Blue Moon: From the Journals of Mama Mae & LeeLee is available now online or in-stores. During the week of November 10 through November 16, Barnes and Nobles is donating 10 percent of the book’s proceeds to Keep A Child Alive.
