
After a seven year hiatus, Akon is coming back full force with a multi-part concept album set to debut this year.
The multi-talented chocolate gem announced his upcoming project, Stadium, which will be a follow up to his 2008 album Freedom. Being the well-diversed artist that he is, the five-part series album will include five discs that are rooted in different genres: Euro, Pop, Urban, Island and World.
Currently, Akon’s official website features a single from each individualized disc. These tracks include “Better” featuring Niko The Kid from from Stadium: Euro, ballad “To Each His Own” from Stadium: Pop, “Whole Lot” from Stadium: Urban, love ode “Just A Man” featuring Stephen Marley from Stadium: Island and “Feeling A Nikka” featuring D’Banje from Stadium: World.
Akon provides a cultural mesh of music that is ambitious and forward-thinking. There is no set date for this phenomenon project, but it is sure to be a album to remember. Check out some samples of the new music here.
