In addition to Mary J. Blige starring on this week’s episode of Empire, Jennifer Hudson will guest star as well. On the episode, airing March 11, the Oscar winning songstress will play Michelle, who forms a new musical relationship with eldest son Andre (played by Trai Byers).
During one scene, Hudson sits at the piano with Andre where she belts out a new song called “Remember the Music,” which appears on the Original Soundtrack from Season One of Empire.
The “It’s Your World” singer tells PEOPLE, “Remember the Music,” is a record that “truly exemplifies the power that music can have in all of our lives.”
Hudson adds, “In my own life and my own art, I have always aimed to move past barriers and step outside my comfort zone as much as possible, and music has always been a tool that has allowed me to do so. This song really showcases the ability that music has in helping people to find strength and clarity.”
Hudson also recorded another song for the show’s soundtrack titled “What Makes You Feel Happy” featuring Juicy J.
