Jennifer Hudson has premiered the video for her new single “I Still Love You.” The upbeat, yet touching video follows the journey of a father who struggles with accepting his gay son’s sexual preference. However, he ultimately decides to attend his son’s wedding.
“I just think the concept was just powerful to go with such a positive song. It’s about love and everyone should have love and have the right to love who they want to love,” Jennifer told MTV. “So I thought it would be powerful to take a concept like trying to find your equality in love no matter who you love.”
The video was released as part of LOGO’s #All50 campaign, which is a platform for LGBT people and allies to stay up-to-date on the latest news and share personal stories in support of marriage equality leading up to the Supreme Court of the United States’ momentous decision.
Speaking on what she hops the video conveys, Hudson said, “I hope people walk away with a broader perspective of marriage equality. And everyone being able to choose who they want to love and just accept each other as their own and just give love and receive love, just love and be happy people.”
“I Still Love You” appears on Hudson’s latest album, JHUD, which debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200.
