The wait is over. Jill Scott has announced the title and release date for her fifth studio album. Scheduled to arrive on July 24, WOMAN, will serve as the follow-up to Scott’s 2011 release The Light of the Sun, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
The soulful songstress describes the album as “classic Philly soul meets country rhythm served with captivating storytelling.” Alongside long-time collaborator Andre Harris, Scott helped executive produced her new body of work.
Earlier this year, Rated R&B talked with producer Jproof who talked highly about working on Scott’s new album. “I’m excited for the world to hear that project,” says Jproof. “The records that we [Pop, Flip, Tru] came up with were so fresh. I think people will be pleasantly surprised with her next album.”
Scott’s latest single “Fool’s Gold” is slaying urban AC radio, currently standing at No. 4.
The “Golden” singer will be hitting the road soon. The 25-date tour will kick off on July 13 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the Heinz Hall. From there, Scott will perform in cities such as Baltimore, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles and Saratoga. The tour will conclude on August 28 in Phoenix, Arizona at the Comerica Theatre.
