Nina-Simone

This June, which serves as African-American Music Appreciation Month, music listeners will be treated with a special tribute album to legendary singer-activist Nina Simone.

Released alongside the Netflix documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone?, the untitled project will serve as the soundtrack for the moving film.

Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Jazmine Sullivan, Robert Glasper, Grace and Andra Day, among others will be a part of the album.

The documentary will include rare concert footage and her most memorable songs, along with diaries, letters and interviews with Nina’s daughter, friends and collaborators, to tell the story of this beloved singer and black power icon.

What Happened, Miss Simone? will be available for online streaming on June 26 via Netflix. The release date for the tribute album will be announced in the coming weeks.
