It seems like it’s been a long time coming but Monica is now ready to drop her eight album, Code Red. The much-anticipated LP is scheduled to arrive on September 18.
“I named it Code Red because I think right now for R&B music, there’s a state of emergency,” Monica tells DJ Smallz Eyes. “Myself being one person, one artist, I can’t change that on my own. No one is that powerful but all of us together — I think we can make huge strides and just allow this generation to enjoy what this music embodies, which is it like a lot of love, a lot of passion [and] a lot of soul.”
Code Red includes production from Polow Da Don, Rico Love, Pop&Oak and Fat Boy, among others. The lead single “Just Right For Me” featuring Lil Wayne is climbing on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs Chart. As of today (July 30), the song is at No. 23 on the chart. Monica performed the track live for the first time at BET’s inaugural Players’ Awards earlier this month.
