Tweet is ready for a comeback! The R&B veteran has announced her new album, Charlene, will release on January 22, 2016 via eOne Music. The album will serve as the follow-up to 2013’s Simply Tweet EP.
During her visit at the 2015 ESSENCE Festival, Tweet chatted with our friends at YouKnowIGotSoul about the sound of her new album. “The sound of ‘Charlene’ everything that inspired me from the beginning,” Tweet told YKIGS. “It will be church, Marvin Gaye, quartet and ‘Southern Hummingbird’. You’ll get to hear ‘Southern Hummingbird’ times two plus a little bit.”
While Tweet has broken her promises with album release dates in the past, she declares her new album will be released at the top of next year. “They’re going to believe it when they hear the music,” said Tweet. “I’m sorry it’s been so long, but it wasn’t my fault. It wasn’t God’s timing at the time. I’ve been trying and it’s finally here. Hold on just a little bit longer!”
Additionally, Tweet says she has reunited with Missy Elliott for a track on the new project. She also has a special duet in the works.
