In 2011, we introduced budding singer Mark J.P. Hood as our Rated Next Artist. We believed he had what it takes to become the next big thing in R&B/pop music. On Monday night, the Chicago kicked off the season 9 premiere of NBC’s The Voice, which attracted 12.1 million viewers.
The “Mr. Greatness” singer made an great first impression to the judges and viewers with his breathtaking rendition of Bill Withers’ classic “Use Me.” Hood’s performance had the judges battling to be his coach. He ultimately chose to join Team Pharrell, which was a great decision.
