After collaborating with McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Essence, and Shazam to launch the #iRise campaign, Andra Day has released a video for her single “Rise Up.”
In this inspirational version, film director M. Night Shyamalan follows a woman who’s a caretaker for her husband who is a disabled veteran. Andra Day wrote on her Medium that the video was inspired by a book of stories titled God Always Has a Plan B for Women.
“The story speaks to ‘Rise Up’ perfectly because it is a story about perseverance, she says. “Not just for yourself but for someone else.”
Along with the inspirational version of “Rise Up,” Day released an introspective version where she is walking through a forest.
“Rise Up” is featured on Day’s debut album Cheers to the Fall.
