Aloe Blacc sends a funky and powerful message to the One Percenters of America in his newest record “Broke.”
Blacc has been known to make music that is inspiring and tackles the real issues: from the 2010 single “I Need a Dollar” on struggling with unemployment to the empowering record “The Man.” Now, over-driving, revolution-bringing production from DJ Khalil, Blacc is telling the rich that money isn’t everything.
“All that money and you still broke / Being rich don’t make you rich / What’s a silver spoon to a black pitchfork / Being rich don’t make you rich / Get your head right,” he sings.
The lyric video accompanying the song delivers hard-hitting facts on the systems in America that lead to poverty and incarceration, placed over drum breaks and imagery depicting the plights of the country.
