Lloyd’s new EP Tru has arrived. The five-track offering includes current singles “Tru” and “Holding” featuring Lil Wayne. In addition to Weezy, the EP includes guest appearances from Rick Ross and 2 Chainz.
On the EP, Lloyd opens up about some things he’s experienced over the last few years.
“I’ve never attacked the content of my life like this,” Lloyd told Billboard. “The EP and album were inspired by all kinds of biographical storylines of the past few years. And the bottom line message is that there’s nothing wrong with being who you are. I really enjoy the fact that no one is perfect or imperfect. That’s the message I’m sharing.”
The cover art, which shows Lloyd naked outdoors, also holds an important message to him. “The same kid fans met before is still deep in me,” he said to Billboard. “But this Lloyd is more comfortable in his skin, having eliminated so many fears like how you might look to someone or what someone else may think of you. That’s what I’ve tried to tackle with this photo—and my new music.”
Tru is just an appetizer of what’s to come. Next year Lloyd will release his new album, Out My Window, which will follow 2011’s King of Hearts.
