Emerging British singer Jacob Banks makes his U.S. debut with “Unholy Water,” the lead single off his forthcoming EP The Boy Who Cried Freedom.
Banks’ commanding vocals soar over the intoxicating track, which is marinated soul and lightly peppered with pop elements
Speaking on the song, Banks says, “’Unholy War” really sets the tone of the upcoming EP…I’m calling it ‘digital soul.’ We’re trying to put a modern twist on a genre that’s older than time.”
The Boy Who Cried Freedom is slated to release this spring on Interscope Records.
Banks rose to popularity with his powerful hit “Monster 2.0,” which received over 1 million streams in its first week of release. In early 2013, Banks released his debut EP The Monologue, where he supported the project by touring around the U.K. with artists such as Emeli Sandé, Sam Smith and Alicia Keys.
