Kali Uchis has just released the video for her reggae-tinged single “Tyrant” featuring R&B newcomer Jorja Smith.
Saturated in 80s-like visuals with 1960s inspired French fashions, Uchis naturally glides throughout her breezy sets with swagger and sex appeal before linking up with Jorja Smith to daydream in the green fields.
In a press release, Uchis said that “Tyrant” is “a post apocalyptic love song. Wanting to stay in the haze of puppy love forever and never face the power struggles, because that’s your only real escape from the cold realities of life.”
“Tyrant” is her first lead singer since 2016’s “Only You” featuring Steve Lacy and Vince Staples, and is now available on all digital platforms. Watch the video below.
Uchis has worked with Snoop Dogg, Tyler, The Creator, and GoldLink in the past, but first started gaining buzz after her standout feature on Daniel Caesar’s breakout hit “Get You.” Recently, she has announced first headlining tour, kicking off at the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in San Francisco, CA on Aug. 11.
