Sixteen years after her tragic death, Aaliyah is still making an impact in pop culture.
About two years ago, Aaliyah’s fans launched an online petition to persuade MAC Cosmetics to release a limited edition collection by Aaliyah. Since then, the petition has received over 26,000 signatures and co-signs from Aaliyah’s Brother Rashad Haughton, her estate, Missy Elliott and more.
Well, it’s happening. Aaliyah will finally get her own MAC Collection!
The company confirmed the news in a statement, saying the collection will release in summer 2018:
Aaliyah is truly one in a million — an unstoppable icon whose groundbreaking work in R&B music and film inspires us all. Today we join her countless fans in celebrating her with the announcement of the M·A·C Aaliyah collection. You made it happen!
MAC’s announcement comes off the heels of Selena Quintanilla’s posthumous collection, which debuted last year.
