It’s been a slow year for August Alsina. The New Orleans native launched the campaign for his new era almost a year ago, yet his third album still remains unreleased.
On Monday evening, a fan tweeted Alsina and asked him about the progress of his new project. The singer didn’t hold back with the truth about why his album is being delayed.
“I would love to put my album out but DEF JAM is holding it/me hostage because the system is not up & running until next year so they basically dont exist,” Alsina tweeted. “The label is just TRASH .. I will release free music soon but that has been the hold up. Tell Them to FREE ME 🗣& the Album🗣”
Alsina has released four songs this year including “Drugs,” “Wait,” “Lonely” and “Don’t Matter.” The songs have a combined 40 million streams on Spotify alone.
