Rising R&B artist Xavier Omär is back with his brand new EP titled Pink Lightning via Never Sleep Music/EMPIRE. The five-track offering takes fans on a journey through Omär’s many emotions involving love and relationships.
The EP opens with the lead track “Runnin’ Round,” which is about drawing a line between you and your inconsistent love interest. He gets “Stuck” on the second track, where he sings about wanting to be happily together with his lover. On “Change on Me” featuring singer Leuca, Omär hopes his love interest doesn’t change the way she feels about him.
Omär strips away the beat on “The Title” to put an emphasis on just the lyrics. On the beautiful tune, he asks for his relationship to be official. “This record was originally acapella but I then made it into a pop song because I decided not to keep it,” Omär wrote on Genius. “I recorded it to the new beat and actually tried to get it to Sam Smith, but that connect never happened. The only reason this song is on the project is because I played it for some friends at Masego’s house in LA and they were like ‘when does THIS drop?” I had lost the files so I said, “It’s not, I lost the files.” My friend Courtney Bennet said in her beautiful British accent ‘just re-record it.'”
Omär will launch his supporting Pink Lightning Tour on November 28 in Chicago. The tour will hit major cities across North America including D.C., Boston, New York, Houston, Los Angeles and Seattle.
Pink Lightning follows Omär’s 2016 project, The Everlasting Wave, which featured his most popular song to date “Blind Man.” The track has accumulated over 16 million streams on Spotify.
