Khalid and Normani Perform ‘Love Lies’ on ‘The Tonight Show’

Khalid and Normani visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night to perform their hit “Love Lies” on television for the first time.

Supported by a live band, Khalid brought his laidback vibes while Normani stormed the stage with sexy dance moves. Similar to their “Love Lies” music video, the rising singers created a luxury hotel atmosphere on stage for their beautiful duet.

This week, Normani announced her new deal with Keep Cool/RCA Records. “I’m so incredibly grateful to be able to be in a place where I can explore myself as an artist and what I’m capable of,” she said. “Never in a million years did I think I would be in this position in 2018. Everyone has been so supportive and patient; thank you so much to my fans for giving me the opportunity.”

“Love Lies,” from the Love Simon soundtrack, was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on April 4. The duet has over 136 million streams on Spotify and its official video has nearly 30 million views on YouTube.

Blvck Rose Releases Visual for ‘Video Girl’ Featuring FùNSHO

Emerging producer Blvck Rose has released the visual for his debut single “Video Girl” featuring FùNSHO.

Directed by Bria Domonique, the kaleidoscopic-clip takes a glimpse into the lives of various women with different interests including yoga, painting, photography and 420. The ladies later join Blvck Rose and FùNSHO at a kickback where he finds himself with more than enough options.

Blvck Rose shared the creative direction for the “Video Girl” visual. “I wanted to perfectly illustrate the feel of the song, which is very groovy, vibey and fun and highlight the variety of beautiful women of the DC-Maryland-Virginia area,” he said. “The vibrant shots showcase each woman in her natural element enjoying the song, and I hope the viewers leave with the message that all women are beautiful in their own way and should be appreciated.”

“Video Girl” will make the track list for Blvck Rose’s forthcoming EP A Half Dozen Roses, which is slated to arrive this summer. The project is expected to tell “an international love story told over futuristic melodic production.”

Khalid Shares New Song ‘OTW’ Featuring 6LACK and Ty Dolla $ign

Khalid teams up with his R&B colleagues 6LACK and Ty Dolla $ign for his new single titled “OTW.” On the slow banger — produced by Nineteen85, Idan Kalai and Brian Alexander Morgan — the R&B gents sing about how they will always be there for their love interest.

“Put it in drive, I’ll be outside, I’ll be on the way / I’ll be on the way / You can meet me in five, I’ll be all night, I’ll be all day,” Khalid sings on the chorus.

Dolla $ign adds, “Come with me on this mission (ooh yeah, ooh yeah) / Riding down the coast (ooh yeah).”

6LACK comes in on the third verse. “You tryna make a move / Tonight I got the time, tell me what you wanna do,” he sings.

“OTW” follows Khalid’s duet with Normani, “Love Lies,” which has over 171 million streams on Spotify. It is also his first solo single since 2017’s “Young Dumb & Broke” from his debut album, American Teen.

Normani Enlists Missy Elliott for Debut Album

While Normani is hard at work on her solo debut album, Missy Elliott has been named as one of her first major collaborators. The 21-year-old artist revealed the exciting news to Billboard.

“I’ll be working with Missy Elliott soon, and the fact that she’s even willing to take a chance on me as a new artist means a lot, considering that she’s the one I’ve looked up to since I was a little girl,” she said. “I literally remember dancing in my grandmother’s living room to all of Missy Elliott’s records. She’s such an innovator, and there’s no one else out there like her. The fact that she is willing to work with me…I’m like, ‘Who? Me?’”

Elliott and Normani recently shared a moment on Twitter after the legendary musician took a poll to ask which artists should take a chance and let her direct a music video for them. Normani replied, with her hand raised high.

Recently, Normani performed “Love Lies” featuring Khalid on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The certified gold record has reached No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100. “[Khalid] is like my spirit animal,” she said. “We had no idea what we wanted the song to sound like. We had no expectations going in. We knew it was going to be special because of the connection we had as friends, but we didn’t know about the sound. It all happened so organically. It was just one big jam session.”

Normani’s debut album is expected to arrive in late 2018 via Keep Cool/RCA Records.
