Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign show their love for music from the ’80s and ’90s on their new song “The Light,” lifted off their upcoming joint project MihTy. Produced by Hitmaka, the feel-good jam samples Keni Burke’s ’80s smash “Risin’ to the Top,” which was later borrowed by Mary J. Blige on “Love No Limit” in 1992.
Ty coos sweet nothings to this special lady, singing, “Let’s have sex but not without the foreplay / But not without the first date.” Jeremih gets in on the action, using lines from “Back in the Day” by West Coast rapper Ahmad. “Back in the days when I was young I’m not a kid anymore, but these days I’m thinking maybe we should fuck again,” sings the Late Nights crooner.
MihTy will drop later this summer with features from Lil’ Wayne, French Montana and Chris Brown. Ty revealed the details on the joint effort on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music show in May, “That’s like a full-length album. I’m so excited for that one. We did it with my bro, Hitmaka. He produced the whole shit, so it’s like a consistent album of bangers” he shared.
Let there be “Light” below.
