With anticipation running high for their follow-up to 2017’s Tattoos&Blues, Jake&Papa hold fans over with a special project.
Hosted by DJ Carisma, The R.O.S.E. Tape (which stands for Real Ones Still Exist) includes six songs that find the duo representing their hometown of Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley.
One standout track, “Always Be…,” borrows from Mariah Carey’s 1996 hit “Always Be My Baby.” Others tracks fall in line with familiar harmonies and catchy vibes from Jake&Papa’s previous releases.
“This is a special dedication to the 818 and anybody who ever found themselves missing that feeling. That real. We’re here to remind you that,” Jake&Papa wrote on Instagram.
The R.O.S.E. Tape doesn’t include their summer joints “Better Than Before,” “All the Way” and “Back to the Future” featuring Quincy White for a good reason. The three songs are expected to appear on Jake&Papa’s upcoming project Tattoos&Blues II this fall.
