Khalid embarks on a new era and it takes place in Suncity. The 20-year-old singer has released his new EP ahead of his much-anticipated sophomore album, which is due in early 2019.
Described as a love letter to his hometown of El Paso, Texas, the 7-track effort hears Khalid in a different space musically than his killer debut, American Teen.
“More than anything in life right now I want growth,” said Khalid in a press statement. “I want my music to grow and represent how I am growing up. Suncity is the start of a new era for me, this music poured out of me and I didn’t want to wait to share it. I wanted to be able to live in this moment with my fans and my friends and speak from the heart.”
Interestingly, Khalid’s “OTW” collaboration featuring Ty Dolla $ign and 6LACK isn’t present on the track list. The song possibly didn’t fit in the sonic direction he is headed for his second album. Whatever the case, Suncity proves to be a solid body of work.
