L.A Reid and Raphael Saadiq have teamed up to bring us The Bonfyre. The budding artist is working under the tutelage of both of these prominent men to hone her musical prowess, which is showcased on her debut EP, Ready to Love.
On her first declaration to the music industry, the debut work sports a “hypnotic hybrid of slick R&B and widescreen pop powered by rafter-reaching vocals, vivid lyricism, and raw emotionality.” The first single, named after the project, delivers healthy doses of nostalgia with its infectious melody and pop-friendly vocals.
The monochrome visual for the title track sees The Bonfyre dancing around a living room and posing sensually with a bouquet of roses. The video gives a sense that The Bonfyre is very much comfortable where she’s at.
The reason she got her name is very uncanny. According to the rising musical artist, “Everything should sound and feel like a bonfire. When I think of a bonfire, it’s super inviting and fun. It’s a no-judgment zone.” And it seems as though The Bonfyre has tried to keep that motif going into her first video.
In an industry where stars fade faster then they were made, The Bonfyre resolves to keep on being a fixture in the genre by trying to leave lasting impressions with her music. “I pin music to so many of my memories,” the upbeat balladeer said. “I want everybody to do the same. The goal is to resonate on that universal level.”
