Legendary R&B group After 7 has released their first holiday song, just in time for the festive season. Titled “The Loneliest Christmas,” the Daryl Simmons-penned song is a slow-burning ballad that reflects on the loss of a loved one around the joyful season.
“I’m going to climb the stairs alone tonight / Because you’re not here to celebrate the new, new year with me,” the lyrics solemnly state.
Now while “The Loneliest Christmas” won’t send a happy jolt through people, it will certainly serve as consolation for the brokenhearted.
After spending 20 years from the limelight, After 7 returned on the scene in 2016 with their acclaimed album, Timeless. The 10-track LP spawned five top ten singles including “Too Late,” “If I,” “Runnin’ Out,” “I Want You” and “Let Me Know.”
