With her Debut Tour in full swing, Ella Mai is celebrating a win on Billboard this week. Her latest single “Trip” has ended Queen Naija’s five-week number one streak on the Adult R&B Songs chart, becoming her second chart leader for this airplay format.
The additional playing time on urban adult contemporary radio helped the Mustard-produced track to rise from 2-1. Before 2018 ended, the song reached the top spot on urban AC with a total of 1,716 radio spins and more than nine million listeners. As of today (Jan. 9), “Trip” has a total of 2,038 radio spins and more than 13 million listeners.
As noted above, Mai is currently on tour overseas promoting her eponymous debut. The LP was featured on Rated R&B’s 25 best R&B projects of 2018.
In April, Mai is scheduled to perform at this year’s Coachella, as well as Childish Gambino, Janelle Monáe, Solange, H.E.R. and Blood Orange.
