Bay Area native QUIÑ teams with Atlanta native 6LACK for her new single titled “Mushroom Chocolate.” Arriving just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Chuck Inglish-produced cut is about finding the right person you can connect with on a romantic level.
“Get you somebody that speak your language / Get you somebody to fake it, play chill / Get you somebody to get your mind right,” QUIÑ sings. 6LACK later adds, “Get you somebody to fall in love with / Get you somebody to kiss in public.”
In an interview with Billboard, QUIÑ revealed the song’s title was actually the name of the beat that Inglish produced and doesn’t have a specific meaning. “We are still on a journey figuring out what it means,” she said. “The song title can mean so many other different things..the song is constantly revealing the reason why the name is ‘Mushroom Chocolate.’ There is no other name it could ever be — if that makes sense.”
“Mushroom Chocolate” is the first single from QUIÑ’s upcoming EP, Lucid, which will arrive this year via Interscope Records. She describes the project as, “the more real, loving and truthful version of what I thought I was experiencing previously.”
Lucid will follow her previously released EPs Galactica and Dreamgirl.
