Famed disco diva Patrice Rushen is the latest artist to join the vinyl trend. It has been reported that Strut Records has acquired recordings from Rushen’s time at Elektra / Asylum and will package them on a vinyl compilation titled You Remind Me: (The Classic Elektra Recordings 1978-1984).
Scheduled to hit shelves and online on July 19, the 3xLP set will feature records that were cut during her six years at Elektra / Asylum, including 12’ versions of her top 10 R&B singles “Feel So Real (Won’t Let Go),” “Haven’t You Heard,” “Look Up” and “Forget Me Nots.”
The latter track peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the R&B charts. At the 25th Annual Grammy Awards in 1983, the song earned a nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and later got re-imagined by Will Smith (“Men in Black”) and George Michael (“Fastlove”).
Remind Me will also a disc of full mastered records by The Carvery from the original tapes. In addition, each format will be bundled with an exclusive new interview from Rushen, along with rare vintage photos.
