Ashanti is a whole mood. A case in point is her steamy new music video for “Pretty Little Thing” featuring Afro B.
Clad in various bathing suits from her new line, which is named after the song, Ashanti serves fans bawdy as she soaks up a dose of vitamin D from the sun. She and a few of her melanin sisters also kick up sand with some sexy dance moves.
“I wanted the collection to feel like a global, exotic vacation,” shared Ashanti about her batch of swimwear. “I wanted the pieces to stand out, and most importantly, I wanted women to feel empowered — any shape, color, size. I wanted women to feel confident and sexy.”
“Pretty Little Thing” is Ashanti’s first taste of solo material since dropping “Say Less” in 2017. Before 2018 ended, she talked with PAPER for their December Break the Internet issue about the “soul-touching” direction for her follow-up to 2014’s Braveheart.
“I feel like there are a lot of vulnerable topics that I haven’t spoken about before that I’m talking about now,” she said. “I think people will be like, ‘What did she say?’ which is a really cool thing.”
