Childish Gambino is a man of many talents. As The Lion King continues to roar at box offices across the world, the multitalented musician dropped by the triple j’s studio for an episode of Like A Version. He recorded a cover of Chris Gaines’ (a k.a. Garth Brooks) “Lost In You.”
Gambino and his band – composed of keyboard player and five background singers – turned the original song into a divine experience. He stays in the airy vocal pocket of the standard version. His background vocalists anchor his delicate voice, sending this rendition to heavenly heights.
Gambino, who plays an adult Simba in The Lion King, is headed to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park this weekend to headline the Outside Lands Festival. In October, he’ll play the Austin City Limits Festival.
