Sometimes you need to take a step back to regroup and assess things, which seems to be the energy Alina Baraz is on. In celebration of her birthday on Tuesday, the Cleveland songbird gifted fans with a new song titled “To Me.”
Easing into the track with a comforting acoustic guitar, Baraz coos on the first verse, “It’s been a while since you heard from me / I stay alone / Protect my energies / Found a little love / Lost my sanity / And then one day it just came to me.”
The song serves as an introspective peek into Baraz’s brief break, as this is her first release of 2019. It’s been a year since she released her last single “Feels Right,” a few months after her solo project The Color of You in April 2018.
