Giving your love to the wrong person can be tiresome. Fortunately, singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas is streamlining this ever-lingering feeling into her bright new track “Can’t Fight.”
Describing her lover as “something that feels like home,” La Havas takes a deep dive into why something that is so wrong can feel so right.
“I knew that I should give you up / I tried to run but got my heart stuck / I can’t fight away this love / Can’t fight away this love,” La Havas belts on the breezy chorus.
“‘Can’t Fight’ is that feeling of, you know it’s not good, but you can’t not do it,” the British singer said about the track. She proceeds, “People say if you’re having a hard time in a relationship, just leave. It’s so easy to say, but it’s so much more complicated than that. Because there’s two of you, and neither of you are perfect.”
The British singer released “Paper Thin” and “Bittersweet” ahead of “Can’t Fight.” With all three singles, La Havas is gearing up for the release of her self-entitled LP via Nonesuch Records, due out July 17.
In other news, La Havas has also shared her accompanying video for “Paper Thin,” which includes the interlude “Out Of Your Mind.” The video can be viewed below.
