DAWN has been keeping herself quite busy. The innovative artist has announced her partnership with Cartoon Network’s adult nighttime programming block, Adult Swim.
For the partnership, DAWN will step into the role as a creative consultant for the channel’s upcoming projects. In bringing creative projects to their liner and online platform, she will scout and spotlight Black artists and animators to pitch shows to Adult Swim, as well as create music videos and social content for the platform.
“It’s been a long-term mission of mine to push down barriers and break ceilings for voices that are often unheard or overlooked,” she shared. “I’ve loved working with Adult Swim over the last five years and I really wanted to do more than just use the platform for myself,”
The partnership has already been in the works, as she discussed her content creator role with Rated R&B in April 2019.
“I’m not doing my job if I’m not taking other people with me,” commented DAWN about her push for more Black creatives in animation. “It’s cool to be like, ‘Yeah, I got a platform,’ but it’s like what do you do with it? So, what I’m really excited about having the ability to choose different people of color to work with and collaborate with so that they are able to have their s**t on Adult Swim with me. I want to be able to share that fun and glory with them.”
