R&B newcomer Jahkoy is putting his life on the line to save a burning relationship on his new song “Firefighter.”
The song is a sign of experience, finding the emerging act trying to extinguish the flames of a complex romance.
“In the heat of the moment it feels like a fever / Dragging me down ‘cause you know that I need ya / Got your smoke in my lungs, losing my breath all because / You thought I was a real one,” Jahkoy sings on the second verse.
Speaking on the new track, Jahkoy shared, “The song is a true story. The idea is that my girl and I had sparked a flame when we started liking each other. And while we’re spending time together, warming up to each other, we are allowing that flame to grow. But like any real fire, if it gets too big, it could get out of control.”
He continued, “That’s what happens here. Our chemistry is so hot but when we disagreed on something that’s when the fire would go wild. But she doesn’t want to deal with all the heat so I have to be the firefighter. I have to take the wheel and fight for this thing.”
“Firefighter” is certainly worth a listen. It’s Jahkoy’s first new joint of the year, as well as his first new tune since last year’s “Granted.”
