Elliott Trent is showing no signs of swerving out the artist lane.
The songwriter-producer — who has worked with Kehlani, Chris Brown, and Usher — has released his debut EP, Into the Night, via Ell Trent music / PIVTL Projects.
Trent produced and wrote all six of the songs, including the lead track “Motions” and the cautious follow-up “Safeside.”
“Luv Lyfe” has a Weeknd-esque vocal quality. On “No Vacancy,” Trent finds himself entangled with a dangerous woman that he can’t seem to leave alone. Trent is in love with a stripper on the trap-pop “One Friend.”
“The vibe of this EP is a fusion of modern R&B and pop that’s influenced by a mix of all the music I’ve grown up listening to across a wide variety of genres,” Trent said in a recent interview with Hollywood Life. “On the production side, I experiment a lot with different sounds and allow the flow of the music and whatever feels good in the moment to take my sound to where it ultimately lands.”
